Basement Test Tape
1/2 inch open-reel videotape Black & White Sound c1970 9:57
Summary: A black-and-white test tape used by the Basement Project, with vignettes of various young people in their basement space. The tape is quite damaged, much cannot be seen. We see people wandering around a room, playing scrabble, or talking about the equipment they need for their darkroom.
Title number: 21544
LSA ID: LSA/28247
Description: Very bad quality, pixelated, lines of static running across the screen. Quite impossible to see what they are doing. It shows some people wandering around the room. Then, we see a play of sorts. The screen flashes. The next sequence reveals a bearded man looking through a book, while a blond woman smokes behind him. They talk about getting dark room equipment. We can hear counting as people play scrabble.
The final vignette records a portrait of someone smiling to the camera while another person stands looking at the diagrams taped on the wall.
