Further information: The film starts after 1 minute 30 seconds. The opening sequence states that the film is an interview with Mr William Morris Mordey MInstCE MIEE Electrical Engineer and Inventor. The film was photographed by G.B. Instructional Ltd in collaboration with the Institution of Electrical Engineers (IEE). A brief biographical screen follows. Mordey was born 28 March 1856 in the County of Durham. He was 78 years old when this picture was made on 28 November 1934. He was President of the IEE 1908-1909 and elected Honorary Member in 1932.

In this film Mordey is sitting at his desk but walks in front and reads from a script detailing his main achievement whilst IEE President. Mordey was instrumental in obtaining a building for the IEE (now the IET). Up until then the Institution had relied on the hospitality of other institutions. He requested the Council to look into obtaining its own building in 1908. They secured the examination hall of the Royal College of Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians [now Savoy Place, London]. Mordey recalls that 22 years previously to obtaining the lease for the IEE, he was present in 1886 when Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone, which is still visible on the exterior of Savoy Place. The IEE modified the building under the advice of Percy Adams, architect. After the alterations, including a new lecture theatre, were completed in 1910, the IEE moved in. In 1910 the membership stood at 6,200. By 1934, when the film was made, the membership had increased to 15,500. Mordey attributes this partly to the IEE having its own home. The film finishes at 6 minutes 56 seconds.
