Description: The crowds look on as Formula 3 racing cars get ready for a race at Crystal Palace. There are various adverts around the track including 'Avon Tyres'. The race begins and several men in hats watch the cars race by on the track. This is followed by two women chatting as the cars fly by. The race is seen from various different angles and one car, number 33 is abandoned on a grass verge, not able to complete the race. As the race continues, the sun comes out. The cars continue to race around the track watched by spectators.
There are large advertisements for both Esso and Dunlop on the trackside. Car number 44 breaks down and is towed away and the race continues. The spectators watch the race from the grassy banks surrounding the track.

Further information: Bernard Chaplin bought his first camera with savings from work in 1958. He continued to shoot on film until he made the transfer to video in 1990. His films form part of a collection, which documents his family life and events in the Borough of Redbridge, as well as trips to central London, family holidays in the UK and abroad.
Whilst not all of these films show the London Borough of Redbridge, they are kept together as an archive of his filmmaking.
