Bromley Historic Collections
The moving image items in our collection have come from a variety of local sources and are mostly footage of areas and people of the areas that now make up the London Borough of Bromley.
Bromley Historic Collections collects, preserves and makes available to the public archives, objects and secondary sorces of all kinds relating to the borough and the people and organisations connected with it. They include Anglican parish material, Poor Law Union records, school records, company records, manorial records, still images as well as moving images.

Access: The majority of our films and some of our videos have been digitised and are available to watch via DVD in the library. Booking is recommended but not essential.
We collect material relating to London Borough of Bromley and its people.
Highlights of our collection include footage of: Spencer-May Wedding in 1929; Remembrance Day in Orpington 1929 or 1930; Miss Sharman's Orphanage, Sydenham in the 1930s; 1930s sport days in Belvedere House School Anerley, and St Johns School, Penge and 1940s school sports days in Melivin Road School, Penge and All Saints School; 1935 Jubilee celebrations in Central London and Bromley; Crystal Palace fire in 1935; 1945 street party in Ridsdale Road, Anerley; Home Guard Association landscaping of headquarters at 5 Beckenham Lane, brass band rehearsals and ceremonies in the 1950s and 1960s; A family day out in High Elms Country Park in 1971; Bromley County Court Extention in 1977.
