Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Archives

The IET Archives film collections consists of 16mm reel films, VHS, Beta and DVD. The films range in date from the mid-1930s through to present day. There are several creators for the films, including various IET departments and external bodies. The collection has been deposited with the IET Archives in an ad hoc fashion, over an unknown number of years. The collection consists of talking films, including some rare early examples of famous scientists and engineers. Other films include IET (and IEE) Lectures, educational films, recruitment and career films. Other films on general subjects cover electricity and its history, power generation, modern telecommunications, telegraphy, railways, automobiles, technology in the home and in indsutry, lighting, radio, radar during World War II and scientific subjects.
