Gems from the Sutton Archives
This gallery beautifully illustrates the depth of borough collections such as Sutton's. The selection captures life from the early 20s to the late 60s, from the big occasions to the small - local carnivals and the minutiae of installing new bathrooms - and while amateur footage is set against the professional standards of budget newsreels, all are equally evocative of their time and place. Among the many highlights are excellent shots of omnibuses and floats brimming with patriotism, a carnival queen competition and a scoutmaster's wedding.
